Fashion Inspiration: The Year of Solange.

The first time I heard of Solange was in "Bring It On: All or Nothing" and if someone had told me I'd fawning over her fashion less a decade later, I would laugh. To most people, she was perpetually, "Beyoncé's little sister" and forever stuck in Bey's shadow. Well, Solange has broken out in a big way and ladies and gentlemen, I'd like to take you back to 2014, or as I like to call it, The Year of Solange.

2014: The Year of Solange.

Solange Knowles for Ground Magazine: "On her style:“I’m a lover of colors and prints and [I am] always looking for new talent. Style is an important means of expressing ourselves and gaining confidence,” she muses.'

Solange does fashion and she does it extremely well. It's well known that most celebrities are spoon-fed outfits from their stylists and designers houses but there's an air of authenticity that Solange possess that makes it completely evident she knows what she is doing with each and every look.

Let's take it back to 2012, when she was less known.

 

She participated in this fun thing with Vogue UK where she showcased every outfit she wore throughout the month of February. This is before she become extremely popular and even then, this woman could do some amazing things with clothes. Fast track to 2014, and behold the evolution, behold the come-up!

4 things I love about her style.

1. She has a keen eye for color and she is not afraid to play with her color. Look at her in the Milly by Michelle Smith Orange Pantsuit coupled with a royal blue blazer and powder pink shoes. She even wore a powder pink lip!  I can't get over the powder pink shoes. It's the last thing I would think of for that pantsuit but she executed it perfectly. 

2. Confidence, confidence, confidence. Imagine being confident enough to not only rock that buggy two piece by Azede Jean Pierre but also look absolutely flawless in it.

3. She's one of the few celebs that I believe match their makeup perfectly to their outfit! In some looks, it even seem like she's barely wearing makeup and it works. Props to her makeup squad, to be honest.

4. She knows how to rock an ultra mini skirt. As popular as the mini skirt is, many women do not know how to wear it. For my ladies that are not quite sure how to do the mini skirt look, let Solange inspire you.  LET SOLO GUIDE YOU.
