Red Polka Dress.

I've found myself attracted to vintage cuts and patterns lately. They are generally less form-fitting and a bit more conservative than more modern clothing.

I think I am finally getting out of the notion of "tight/form fitting is always right". I can finally appreciate the chicness of a very loose-fitting outfit.

Maybe it's because I'm getting older, or maybe my fashion sense is having a shift or maybe I am just becoming more comfortable downplaying my assets because I realize my femininity doesn't lie in the cut of my jeans...

Regardless of why, I am glad that I am exploring a new side of fashion. With personal style, experimentation is key. rachel_friday_spring0In this look, I am rocking a modified vintage shift dress. I trimmed a few inches off the hemline, just for my personal taste. Paired with DKNY tights, vintage Candies ankle boots and my London Fog coat, this look was perfect for the sudden 40 degree chill that feel over NYC this past week.

Springtime has never been this chilly, haha. New York City weather can be ridiculously temperamental so knowing how to modify an outfit from warm to slightly brisk to chilly is extremely essential. A great pair of tights are crucial to surviving in this city, in my opinion. Your legs will thank you.

Regarding my lip color, I am wearing Ruby Kisses( my trusty drugstore brand!) Purple Affair layered with Lavenderism! I get so many questions and compliments on my lipstick, so I must share my secret with y'all!
