OOTD: For the Love of Angela Davis.

Hello,

Welcome to the House of Ndubuisi.

If you haven't already, subscribe so you never miss the juicyness of HON.

This past week, I was extremely fortunate to attend an Angela Davis lecture on campus, and it was a very moving experience.

For anyone that doesn't know who Angela Davis is, let me fill you in. She is a political activists from the 60's, with ties to the Civil Rights Movement and Black Panthers. Along with Assata Shakur, she is my revolutionary muva. She spoke on inclusiveness in radical movements, especially touching on the the inclusion of women in these movements. Her words really inspired me to delve deeper into the politics surrounding the black women and our revolutionary and feminist ideals. I will be sharing my thoughts on that very, very soon.

Stay tuned, babes.
Outfit Details:

Top: Faded Glory (yup....Kmart)

Leather Skirt: DIY

Shoes: Dr. Martens

Leather Jacket: QVC (Home Shopping Network)

In honor of Angela, I donned all black in order to pay some homage to the Black Panther movement. I wanted to don a beret as well, to really seal the look but I chose not to. I wanted to really keep this look simple and a lot of times, "less is more".

The star of this look is obviously, my leather animal jacket! I love, love this jacket and because it has such a fun and bold design, it doesn't get much wear so I take any chance I can get to show it off.

This honestly might be all the wear I get out if it this season. Hopefully I'm wrong, haha.

My mini leather skirt is a DIY project and I'd like to thank the Crafster forums for giving me the courage to tackle this project almost a year ago. For anyone interested in light sewing, Crafster.org is an amazing resource chock-full of inspiration and tutorials!

Til next time!

Love & Light,

Rachel.
