Outfit of The Day & A Lesson In Self-Love.

rachel_face1I got a much needed lesson in self love today.

I believe one of the main ingredients in being fashionable is loving yourself and being self confident. It's simply like this, when you feel good, you look good.

I set out to take my pictures today and after taking the first shot, my heart sunk. I didn't look as I thought I would and it made me sad.

I felt that I looked...lumpy and dumpy...and bloated and just terrible.

I was ready to throw in the towel and quit shooting for the day. Thankfully, a great friend was with me and her encouragement pulled me out of that negative space. Loving your self is as essential as breathing. It is unfair to myself to take even bother with a negative thought about person.

I am not perfect.

But, I am perfect in my imperfections.

I am a human being, just like everyone else.

I am learning, growing and changing everyday.

It is a revolutionary act, for me, especially as a Black woman to love myself. I decided that from this day forth, I will show myself acts of love on a daily basis. It could be anything, it just has be something that makes me happy and makes me appreciate this body.

This body, of mine that has been with me for 20 years and continues to protect and keep me alive.

It is almost criminal not to show it love and affection every second of the day.

Within a few minutes, I went from feeling distraught to finding multiple reasons to smile.

Now, on to the Outfit Of The Day.

rachel_facerachel_bridge0rachel_coatrachel_backrachel_blurTop: Thrifted ($1 find!)

Leather Coat: American Vintage.

I hope that this will encourage someone to love themselves(even just...a teeny bit more). Please, remember to pay it forward.

I love you all.

Love and Light,

Rachel.
