"Do you enjoy the summer?"
I said, "Of course, it's better than the winter..but I do love spring the best."
He then says "I love it, but the ladies dress so crazy."
I laugh it off.
But, that statement gave me some food for thought.
I'm from a very urban community, and a lot of the time, I don't see people wearing the "classiest" outfits and I believe that can be attributed to the lack of disposable income to afford "classy" clothing or a difference in perception when it comes to dressing.
Being that I'm "growing up", I find myself modifying my wardrobe and leaning towards "classier' looks.
As a younger lady, I definitely tried to dress in a more showy way, often wearing things that were tighter and not necessarily fitting but rather 'showy".
But, with maturity, I've personally found that, I find more joy with myself when I dress in ways that make me happy with myself, and not for someone else's personal consumption of me and who I am and what I may portray.
I am happiest, dressing for me.
(p.s: I'm putting some words in quotations because they are rather subjective & should be read as so. )

I like to wear over-sized mom shorts with a funky top and a choker. The odds of finding me in a pair of booty shorts and a bralette are slim to none, because it simply isn't me but that, however may appeal to other people and I don't believe they should be looked down upon for that reason.
I just hope that people that do tend to dress on the more scandalous side do so for the right reasons, because that's who they are, and not because they want to be sexual objects for someone else's consumption.
While it may seem appealing because of the attention, I have come to believe, that that is simply no way to live.
Regardless of my personal stances on dressing, I still don't think people should be looked down on for what they choose to wear and why they choose to do so.
